naya changed her animating style and made a whole 5-ish minute video about it

(2017-2019)

Inspired by the storytime animator wave on YouTube that was incredibly popular when I was in middle school, I made a video where its entire goal was allowing me to experiment with different animation styles and ways of representing myself in these animations. This project was started in the year 2017 and was finished in 2019, so all throughout the video, you will see what changes, what stays the same, and essentially watch me improve my skills overtime.

To elaborate on the work that went into this animation:
Stylistically, I was highly influenced by the likes of British author and illustrator Lauren Child and her use of scanned patterns and textures to then create this collage-ish look in her work. So following that, I took the time to paint, cut out from magazines, then scanned all the things you see in this video before going on to use them as textures in my animation. All in all, it was an incredibly tedious, and time-consuming project, but a valuable learning experience nonetheless.
